Good Byes are never easy

Good byes are never easy, and the hardest ones are those that have been such an integral part of one’s life.

18 months ago I began an editorial project as part of my university course on the subject of the fixed gear community in London. Before I knew it I was asked to be a representative of The 5th Floor and their in-house photographer.

Now, 18 months on, myself and The 5th Floor have decided that in our best interests we should go our separate ways and I will be leaving The 5th Floor as a rider and their in-house photographer.
The decision was made due to the fact that my move back to the Leicester will make it near impossible for me to work with the guys on a regular basis.
Also, I felt that it was time to step away from working under the identity of The 5th Floor and begin focusing on building my own identity and working under my own name.
However, the most important fact of the decision is that in the longer scheme of things, myself and all the members of The 5th would continue our friendship and will not encounter the inevitable misunderstanding over work due to me being based 120 miles north.
That all said, it does not mean I have entirely stopped working with The 5th, in fact we have just organised a shoot for the end of the summer. But it does mean that all work I do for The 5th Floor (and any other companies) will now be on a more formal basis.

Like I said, Good byes are never easy, and the hardest ones are those that have been such an integral part of one’s life.
Thanks to the guys at 5th the last 18 months of my life have been about nothing but bikes, whether its a fixed gear or anything else.
I honestly have to thank ever one of them for the opportunity they gave me, from day one to now they have supported every piece of work I produced for them and also as a rider.
Without the help of The 5th Floor I wouldn’t have been able to work with some of the most talented sports photographers or some of the amazing companies around the world.

I truly am going to miss working with The 5th Floor on a day to day basis and being part of the team. Not knowing whats happening within the collective is going to feel a little strange.
However, I wish the boys all the best with everything they already have lined up and for any future project, they never disappointed me while I was in the team and I’m sure they won’t disappoint any time soon.
Good luck with everything guys, and thanks again for all the help and support you’ve provided me with.
